Colour of the year 2021 : Dulux Brave Ground

This year Dulux have announced Brave Ground for the 2021 Colour of the Year. I have seen some mixed reviews on it and it seems to be a love it or hate it scenario but I have to say I love it! It's so nice to see warmer tones coming back and not just the muted ones either. This is actually quite a bold colour, so I would say that I'm not sure I would use it for an entire room, but paired with the dark greys and blacks, it can actually bring some much needed warmth back into our homes!

Inspiration - It is so important when creating the perfect interior to find some great inspiration either online or in magazines. So here are the images that inspired me. I love the natural textures of the woods and polished plastered walls mixed with the steel crittall doors. The wood especially brings warmth to the scheme but if you don't have the funds or you want to change it up you can use brave ground to replicate this feel.

Contrasting Tones - This scheme shows how it can be used in your entry hallway. Incorporate darker tones to create some contrast and give it that sleek modern look. Including some storage into a hallway is essential, so if you have a door that needs a revamp, add some wood battens on and paint them dark grey and it will become the perfect feature storage! Or add a sideboard such as this walnut one that can hide away all of your shoes, hats and scarfs whilst adding an extra layer of texture and tone.

Mirrors- If your worried about making your hallway feel too dark (particularly if you have a small space) then add lots of mirrors to bounce the light around. They can also be a another great way to bring storage and interest to the space such as the one which has a shelf included.

Accent colours - You can also introduce accent colours such as terracotta, this brings an earthy feel to the scheme. The brass also brings warmth and that touch of elegance to finish off the scheme and incorporated with these sculptural light fittings they finish of the space perfectly.

Panelling- I'm a huge fan of panelling both traditional and modern and introducing the lower level panelling will stop the space feeling bland. It can be achieved with relative ease with the increasing number of Pinterest DIY's there are many different and creative ways to add it into your home but I feel this particular style is timeless and will keep your space feeling fresh for years to come.

Rugs- As I have said before I love wood flooring, if I had it my way our whole house would have it but I do recognise the need for comfort and rugs are a great for that. I love how rugs can bring more colour and texture into the home than an ordinary carpet would. This rug compliments the brave ground with the white and black pattern and the fact that it is eco friendly make it the perfect accessory to your home! The best bit about rugs is you can layer them or change them around so easily to keep your space feeling on trend!
