Top 8 Design Trends for 2024

Top 8 Design Trends for 2024

Towards the end of every year, we see the trends forecasting come around, giving us tips on what we can expect to see becoming popular in our interior designs, so here are the top 8 design trends for 2024 I'm loving. I've said it before but I'll say it again, it's important to remember that although looking at different trends can be exciting and be a huge source of inspiration, it is important for your home to reflect your style, so when you see these trends coming up take the time to decide if it something you want to include in your home. Some of these trends are easy to swap in and out but before taking on larger more permanent options take the time to research other options away from the trends to make sure it is something you want to invest in.

Its been a long time coming, but we are seeing a move away from grey tones and replacing them with the warmer tones of brown across multiple finishes, including cabinetry, paint, and fabrics. Still bringing the drama, brown is a warm, earthy colour that can evoke a sense of comfort, stability, and sophistication. When creating a colour scheme with brown, it can work well to pair it with complementary or contrasting colours to create balance and visual interest. Explore different shades and tones of brown in a monochromatic scheme, with shades ranging from light tan to deep chocolate, providing depth and subtlety. You can also play around with textures, whether it's with curtains and cushions or wallpaper.

Sculptural Art

Sculptural art design trend 2024

Art is incredibly subjective when it comes to the art in your home, it is really is a personal choice on what you include to adorn your walls. I've long been a champion for more individual art pieces and I'm really loving the 2024 trend of more sculptural art. Sculptural art is a three-dimensional form of visual art created and we are seeing sculptors manipulate materials such as wood, stone, metal, clay, glass, and more to create objects with mass and volume. There are so many options from abstract pieces to more intricately designed pieces, Etsy is a great place to look if you haven't got a large budget along side the more traditional art gallery's.

Feature Range Hoods

Feature range hoods design trend 2024

We have seen range hoods become more of a feature of kitchen designs over the last few years, saying goodbye to the standard chrome finish, we are seeing different materials such as plaster, tiles or wooden fluted range hoods. Taking inspiration from the fireplace ranges from the Victorian and Georgian kitchens, we have seen large scale feature ranges come back in whilst also seeing an increase in smaller designs with wooden panelling and tiles. I love the look of both but with a Kitchen project coming up at home, will be trying to incorporate a larger feature range in our kitchen design.

Bauwerk Colour

In recent years there has been a focus on using alternative finishes to paint, with popular finishes such a limewash and roman clay becoming more prominent with the textural finish due to their natural finish.

Limewash is a traditional paint made from slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) and water. It has been used for centuries to coat and protect the exterior of buildings, with it's breathable surface allowing moisture to evaporate, making it suitable for various surfaces, including plaster, stone, and brick. Now also used for interior spaces, it often gives a soft, matte finish with a natural and aged appearance.

Alternatively roman clay refers to a type of natural clay or earth plaster used for interior wall finishes. It is a mix of natural clay, aggregates, and sometimes fibres. This type of finish is environmentally friendly, breathable, and can contribute to a healthy indoor environment. Roman clay finishes often have a soft, earthen appearance and can be used to create a variety of textures.
